MANILA - Malacañang on Tuesday defended the military’s surveillance on the Antipolo home of opposition Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, after no less than Armed Forces Chief of Staff Carlito Galvez Jr. admitted to it.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the military’s “casing” of Trillanes’ home was “perfectly legal” given the opposition senator’s tirades against the President.
“It’s only proper to case individuals who have been openly advocating the overthrow of a duly elected, democratically elected President,” Roque said in a Palace press briefing.
“Iyong casing the house, there’s nothing wrong with that, for as long as you don’t violate the privacy of his house. Casing is perfectly legal.”
Roque made such defense of military surveillance on Trillanes’ home after initially denying this.
